The victims, identified as 18-year-old Sadiq Isyaku and his cousin Auwal Isyaku, were attempting to escape when they fell into a pond in the Ring Road Kureken Sani area of Kumbotso Local Government Area.

Immediate Circumstances

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and managed to recover the victims from the pond; however, they were later confirmed dead. The bodies were handed over to their father, Ibrahim Shehu, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his sons. Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, a local official, stated, “The victims were rescued unconscious from the pond, but unfortunately they were later confirmed dead.” He further added, “We sympathise with the bereaved family and call on members of the public to remain vigilant and prioritise safety at all times.”
