M6 Traffic Disruptions Due to Police Incidents
“We would encourage motorists to find alternative travel routes if they can do so,” said a spokesperson for the police, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by drivers on the M6 motorway.
On March 7, 2026, the M6 was closed northbound between junction 28 (Charnock Richard) and junction 30 (Bamber Bridge) due to an ongoing police incident. This closure is expected to clear by approximately 11am.
In addition, another northbound closure was reported between junction 21 and 21a near Warrington, further complicating travel plans for motorists. This incident is estimated to resolve by around 8.30am.
Traffic has also been significantly affected on the southbound lanes, where a crash occurred between junction 12 for Gailey and junction 13 for Stafford South. This collision was reported at 6.35am, leading to all traffic being temporarily held.
Despite these incidents, traffic is reportedly coping well, although the closures are causing some disruption. A police spokesperson noted, “This closure will cause some disruption but it is absolutely necessary, and we are working as quickly as we can to get the carriageway fully re-open.”
The M6 has experienced multiple closures due to police incidents on the same day, underscoring the challenges faced by emergency services and the impact on road users.
Motorists are advised to stay updated on traffic conditions and seek alternative routes where possible to avoid delays.
As the situation develops, further updates will be provided regarding the clearance of the incidents and the reopening of the affected lanes.
