In a recent announcement, players of the Postcode Lottery residing in the LL13 0RU area of Marchwiel have been recognized as winners of the daily £1,000 prize draw. This exciting development took place on March 25, 2026, and highlights the ongoing engagement of players in the lottery.
The People’s Postcode Lottery operates lotteries for 20 Postcode Trusts, with one-third of every ticket sold being donated to charitable causes. Players contribute £12 monthly to participate in the daily draw, which awards £1,000 to residents on 20 fortunate streets across the UK.
In addition to the daily draws, there is a weekly draw held on Thursdays, where £10 is awarded to players in 1,000 postcodes. Since its inception in 2005, the People’s Postcode Lottery has raised an impressive £950 million for good causes, showcasing its significant impact on communities.
Meanwhile, Hertford Town Council has recently secured a £3.5 million grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a project aimed at renewing the grounds of Hertford Castle. This grant covers 83 percent of the project’s total cost, with the council contributing £495,949.
Councillor Ann Woodward expressed the importance of community input in shaping the plans for the castle grounds, stating, “Hertford Town Council and its partners have been listening to the views of our community to shape the plans for the grounds of Hertford Castle – the much-loved greenspace in the very heart of our wonderful town.”
Additionally, an extra £2.2 million in National Lottery funding has been announced to support community, arts, and sports activities across Scotland. This investment comprises £1 million from the National Lottery Community Fund, £1 million from SportScotland, and £200,000 from Creative Scotland.
Phil Batty OBE remarked, “This additional National Lottery investment is the perfect springboard to support local groups inspired by Glasgow 2026,” emphasizing the funding’s role in fostering community engagement.
Neil Ritch added, “Thanks to National Lottery players, National Lottery Awards for All is here to help communities across Scotland celebrate what matters to them,” highlighting the broader implications of lottery funding.
As Glasgow prepares to host over 3,000 athletes from 74 nations for a major sporting event, the funding will be delivered through National Lottery Awards for All Scotland, ensuring that local communities can actively participate in the festivities.
Overall, the recent lottery developments underscore the vital role that lottery participation plays in supporting community initiatives and providing financial assistance for various projects across the UK.
