“I’m so excited to welcome this astonishing group of performers to Regent’s Park,” said Drew McOnie, the director and choreographer of the upcoming production of CATS.
Gary Wilmot is confirmed to join this talented ensemble, taking on the role of Gus in the much-anticipated show. The production, which is based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, will begin performances on July 25 and run through September 12 at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
Wilmot’s participation adds a notable presence to the cast, which also features Rachael Wooding as Grizabella and Jet Yau as Mr. Mistoffelees / Quaxo. This rendition of CATS promises to bring a fresh perspective to the beloved musical, which follows a tribe of strays and rebels in London gathering under the Jellicle moon, hoping one will be chosen for rebirth.
The excitement surrounding the production is palpable, especially with the press night scheduled for August 6, where audiences will get their first glimpse of this new interpretation.
After its engagement at Regent’s Park, the production is set to tour, allowing even more audiences to experience the magic of CATS and the remarkable performances of its cast.
With Drew McOnie at the helm, known for his innovative choreography and direction, expectations are high for this summer’s theatrical offering. The combination of Wilmot’s experience and the dynamic talents of the entire cast is sure to create a memorable experience for theatergoers.
As the opening date approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be a spectacular showcase of music, dance, and storytelling.
