Jane Fallon Diagnosed with Breast Cancer
Jane Fallon, a best-selling novelist, has been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 65. The diagnosis was made following a routine mammogram conducted late last year, which revealed the cancer at a very early stage despite the absence of any symptoms.
Fallon shared her experience, stating, “About a month ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer – very early stage thankfully & the prognosis is excellent.” She emphasized the importance of early detection, noting, “I had no symptoms but the brilliant radiographer spotted something iffy & sent me for further tests & eventually a biopsy.”
She is set to undergo surgery later this month, with her procedure scheduled for the week after next. Fallon expressed her desire to move forward, saying, “It’s been a lot, I’m not going to lie. But, my surgery is scheduled for the week after next and I just want to get it over with now.”
Despite the challenges, Fallon has received what she describes as “incredible care” during her treatment. She has a significant following on social media, with 35.4k followers on Instagram, where she has been sharing updates about her health journey.
Fallon has been in a long-term relationship with comedian Ricky Gervais for over 44 years, having met while studying at University College London in the early 1980s. The couple has supported each other through various life events, and Gervais has been by her side during this difficult time.
In addition to her health news, Fallon is known for her literary contributions, having written 14 books, including popular titles such as “Getting Rid Of Matthew” and “Faking Friends.” Her debut novel is currently being adapted for film, showcasing her continued influence in the literary world.
Mammograms are crucial for detecting breast cancer that is too small to feel or see, highlighting the importance of regular screenings. Fallon’s experience serves as a reminder of the value of proactive health measures.
As she prepares for surgery, the prognosis remains positive, and she is focused on her recovery. Further updates on her health and literary projects are anticipated in the coming weeks.
