Qatar’s Prime Minister Criticizes Iran

“It is a big sense of betrayal. Just an hour after the start of the war, Qatar and other Gulf countries have been attacked,” stated Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar, in a recent address regarding Iran’s actions in the Gulf region.

Sheikh Mohammed’s remarks come amid escalating tensions as Iran has been accused of launching missile and drone attacks on Gulf countries, including Qatar. The Prime Minister described these attacks as unexpected and emphasized the need for a diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflict.

He further noted, “We continue to seek de-escalation. They are our neighbours – it’s our destiny,” highlighting Qatar’s efforts to maintain constructive ties with Tehran despite the recent hostilities.

The Prime Minister warned that the miscalculation by Iran in attacking Gulf countries could destabilize the region and impact the global economy. He stated, “The miscalculation by the Iranians to attack Gulf countries has destroyed everything,” reflecting the gravity of the situation.

Sheikh Mohammed’s call for de-escalation is underscored by Qatar’s ongoing commitment to dialogue, even in the face of aggression. He urged Iran to cease its attacks and engage in constructive discussions to resolve the crisis.

In light of the current conflict, Sheikh Mohammed has also called on the United States to assist in lowering tensions in the region, indicating the international dimension of the crisis.

Qatar’s position is particularly precarious, as it has faced repeated missile and drone attacks during this conflict, raising concerns about its security and stability.

Despite the challenges, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations with Iran, stating that the crisis cannot be resolved through military escalation. He reiterated the necessity for diplomatic efforts to restore peace in the Gulf region.

As the situation develops, further statements from regional leaders and international stakeholders are anticipated, with hopes for a resolution that ensures stability and security for all Gulf nations.
